ROAD RACE MOTOAMERICA FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 10 / SEPTEMBER 21-23, 2018 BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK / BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA P76 was a tiny 0.127 seconds. In a red-flagged race one, Gil- lim came out on top of a three- rider battle between himself, Beach and M4 Ecstar Suzuki's Valentin Debise, saying, "It's re- ally good to get a win in the dry. It's been, like, five years." The top five was rounded out by Tuned Racing Yamaha's Braeden Ortt and KWR Yamaha's Bryce Prince. Gillim didn't have to wait another five years for the next dry win, taking an ultra-close win over beach and Debise, who bested KWR Yamaha's Bryce Prince for third. "We had a really good battle," Gillim said. "JD made some good passes on me, and I made some good passes on him. On the last lap, I had one place to go and that was it. Unfortunately, final MotoAmerica race of 2018, was rounded out by Eslick, Fong, the retiring Roger Hayden, Geoff May (CCFOfficeSolutions. com BMW) and Ben Young (Ben Youong Racing BMW). In the championship, Beaubier emerges victorious at 390 to Elias' 339, Herrin takes third with 289, Scholtz fourth at 239 and Gerloff fifth at 208. Supersport Much like Elias in the Superbike class, Hayden Gillim did his double duty in the Supersport class, taking both wins—his first in the dry all season—to take his personal 2018 win tally to four. Gillim's wins came at the expense Beach, the 2018 series champion unable to best his friend even though the combined margin of victory in both races lube/Yamaha Factory Racing), Bobby Fong (Genuine Broaster Chicken Honda), Cameron Pe- tersen (Genuine Broaster Chick- en Honda) and Kyle Wyman (KWR Yamaha). Race two saw a much closer battle as Elias held strong for a 0.333-second victory over the resurgent Beaubier from Herrin, Scholtz and Lewis. "Honestly, I was thinking to open a gap, but at the end he [Beaubier] was there doing in- credible lap times in the last part of the race," Elias said. "Today was fun. It was fun because all of us, we didn't think about any- thing—just go push over the limit. We show each other today was not any jokes. Some elbows, some hard-braking areas. It was fun. The top 10 in race two, the Hayden Gillim (69) finally got his reward for a great season with two dry-weather wins.
