MOTOGP FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 12 / SEPTEMBER 7-9, 2018 MISANO WORLD CIRCUIT MARCO SIMONCELLI / RIMINI, SAN MARINO P56 him from third overall to sixth. And Romano Fenati was disqualified after a shocking inci- dent where he grabbed Stefano Manzi's front brake (see Briefly). Bagnaia has 214 points to Oliveira's 206. The rest are disputing third: Binder (119), Bal- dassarri (116), Mir (114), Marquez (113) and Schrotter (107). Moto3 The championship took another twist in a crash-hit Moto3 race, and the beneficiary was Brno injury victim Jorge Martin. The Del Conca Gresini Honda rider finished a whisker-close second, after twice narrowly escaping involvement in other riders' indis- cretions. Martin was 0.058 of a second high as fifth, but was also penal- ized, and dropped back to an eventual ninth. Xavi Vierge (Dy- navolt Kalex) overcame his pain from injury in Austria to round out the top 10. Simone Corsi (Tasca Kalex) was 11th, escaping from the next group, which was led by Remy Gardner's Tech3 from Aegerter (KTM) and Locatelli (Kalex), with SAG Kalex substitute rider Jesko Raffin taking the last point after starting from the back of the grid. American Joe Roberts (NTS) was 16th. Alex Marquez (ED-VDS Kalex) had a third non-finish in a row after he was taken down on the first lap by fellow-Spaniard Au- gusto Fernandez. This dropped onds adrift of Bagnaia, and he had to settle for second. "I felt our pace was really even; he was a couple of tenths faster some laps. The first laps really cost me, but we minimized the damage, and we're on the podium again." Schrotter had followed him past Pasini, and closed at the finish for that vain lunge. He was still delighted with a long-awaited first podium after 151 starts. Behind Pasini and Mir, Lo- renzo Baldassarri (Pons HP40 Kalex) had come through from 11th on lap one to take sixth, at the end comfortably clear of Fa- bio Quartararo (Speed Up) and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM). Jorge Navarro (Federal Oils Kalex) had a strong ride to as Francesco Bagnaia was on another level in Moto2 and took a commanding victory.
