"Roger's long-time commitment to motocross

Lowside: 45 Minutes
With A Hero
I'm always pleasantly surprised
to read something that gets my
attention. Hardly anyone writes
real stories these days because
I don't think we have many real
writers left.
Thanks for giving me hope and
engaging stories to read. The
Lowside piece on Wayne was
terrific.
My feelings about Wayne are
the same. He's is the tough-
est most inspirational person
I know. Kenny [Roberts] and
I went to the hospital after his
accident—it was the weekend
of the U.S. GP, and Kenny,
Bob Barnard and I were the
principles putting the event
on. Wayne hadn't yet had the
stabilization surgery, and we
didn't know what to expect
when we got there. The ICU
room was filled with nurses and
several doctors. They were all
huddled around a TV screen.
Wayne had arranged a video
player, and they were watch-
ing the Japanese GP, which he
won. He was talking about the
race, what he was doing every
lap and why. He was smiling
and joking, as if it was his job to
cheer everyone else up.
When we got back to the
track, we received a fax from
Wayne that said: "Stop moping
around and make sure this is
the best f'ing race anyone has
ever seen."
Keep up the good work.

Really enjoyed reading your
article, chills the whole time.
I got the chance to meet
him at the supercross in San
Francisco, California, about 10
years ago. He was waiting for
somebody and just sitting there
so I walked up put my hand out
and said, "Nice to meet you,
I'm a big fan and have really
enjoyed watching you through-
out your career." Then I said,
"I will leave you alone don't
want to bug you," and he said,
"you're not bugging me," and I
ended up talking to him for like
10 minutes.
I still enjoy watching him
throughout his career and know
that he's doing great things with
MotoAmerica.

DeCoster's New Role
Congratulations, Roger. You are
the right man for the job to be
sure! Your presence with KTM
over the years has had a huge
impact on the success of KTM
in North America.
With all that said I know the
riders will miss you as their team
manager. Ian Harrison is cer-
tainly the right person to take
over as team manager, I'm sure
we all wish him success.

Well done, Roger. I've always
been a big fan, going back to
your motocross days. You've
always had talent, drive, dedica-
tion and a lot of class. All these
characteristics will serve you
well in this new role. Congratu-
lations!

Terrific news from Big Orange!
Congratulations to Roger and to
all the Austria staff.
As a 42-year Husqvarna rider
in Canada, I am thrilled Husky
will get even more attention
from Mr. DeCoster in North
America. Roger's long-time
commitment to motocross is the
stuff of legends.
Best Wishes from British
Columbia, Canada.
