FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 12 / SEPTEMBER 7-9, 2018
MISANO WORLD CIRCUIT MARCO SIMONCELLI / RIMINI, SAN MARINO
P52
companion Aleix Espargaro's
Aprilia. He had wildcard Michele
Pirro's Ducati as close company
over the line for the last point.
Bradley Smith had lost touch with
this group, but the Red Bull KTM
rider had got narrowly back in
front of the remounted Lorenzo
for 16th. Miller, also remounted,
was 17th, then Syahrin, Abraham,
Redding, Luthi and GP novice
Ponsson followed along (in place
he would get no further, though
promoted to ninth by Lorenzo's
fall.
Zarco was next, then an undis-
tinguished Alma Pramac Ducati
rider Danilo Petrucci.
Morbidelli hung on to 12th, the
best of what had become a big
gang after 13th-placed Takaaki
Nakagami's LCR Idemitsu Honda
had gained speed in the latter
stages, dropping off long-term
than pressure from second Ec-
star Suzuki rider Andrea Iannone,
who was within a second before
dropping away in the last couple
of laps.
Alvaro Bautista (Angel Nieto
Ducati) had a strong run through
from 14th on lap one to 10th on
lap nine, having passed Johann
Zarco (Monster Yamaha) and
fast-starting Franco Morbidelli
(EG-VDS Honda) on the way, but
Cal Crutchlow was there to pick
up the pieces and grab his first
podium since his win at round
two in Argentina.
