T
he 2018 British MotoGP at Silverstone made
history Sunday. It was the first race in the
modern era in which no racing took place in
all three classes, after standing water on the fully re-
surfaced circuit made conditions unsafe for racing.
The decision came mainly from the riders, but
was endorsed by Dorna Safety Officer Franco
Uncini, Safety Advisor Loris Capirossi, and Race Di-
rector Mike Webb. It sent some 55,000 spectators
home disappointed, after a day sitting out in windy,
cold and damp conditions, with no track action after
morning warm-up.
"We were forced to cancel today's event due to
track conditions," said Webb. "Primarily it was water
on the surface—in some places it was not safe be-
