HERFOSS UNTOUCHABLE
AT MORGAN PARK
F
ormer AMA Supermoto Champion Troy Herfoss (Honda) has cemented a 44.5-point lead in the
Australian Superbike Championship after taking a double victory at the fifth round of the 2018
series, held at Morgan Park in Queensland, August 17-18.
Herfoss engaged in a fierce battle with Ducati's Troy Bayliss in race one, taking the lead on lap 13
to record a 1.1-second victory with title rival Wayne Maxwell (Yamaha) in third.
Herfoss said, "Once again, the fight with Troy is so much fun, we just have confidence in each
other and he then leans in on me, and I'm like 'don't do that Troy,' but for us to come out on top of the
battle and to get our sixth win of the season is better than I would have imagined."
Herfoss backed it up with another win in race two, with current ASBK number
one Josh Waters (Suzuki) picking up second from Maxwell and Bayliss.
In the Supersport category, Cru Halliday (Yamaha) took two dominant wins from
New Zealand's Damon Rees (Honda) and Callum Spriggs (Yamaha). Halliday's race
two win came ahead of Tom Toparis (Kawasaki) and Spriggs. CN
