MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 10 / AUGUST 11, 2018 UNADILLA VALLEY SPORTS CENTER / NEW BERLIN, NEW YORK P62 on Shane McElrath (TLD/Red Bull KTM), who made a late- race charge into the top three. Harrison hung on for fourth just in front of Chase Sexton (Geico Honda), Mosiman, Colt Nichols (Yamalube/Star Racing Yama- ha), Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy (who had a wicked highside at the bottom of the Gravity Cavity early in the race), RJ Hampshire and Alex Martin in 10th, the last guy on the lead lap. Cameron McAdoo (Geico Honda) got the holeshot in moto content to stay there, pulling away from Ferrandis and the rest of the field in the early going, but Mosiman fell a handful of laps into the race, handing Ferrandis the lead. Mosiman was back up in fifth, but it was around that same time that points leader Aaron Plessinger fought his way by Mosiman's teammate Mitchell Harrison and into second. There wasn't much he could do with Ferrandis, though, and Ferran- dis took the win by more than 35 seconds over Plessinger, who had another 14 seconds Russell, the GNCC star, was running 10th in moto two when he went over the bars after his front-end tucked in a rut, and he scored a DNF. 250MX After Marvin Musquin went out and won the 450MX class over- all, Ferrandis did the same in the 250MX class, completing the French sweep. In the first moto, young gun Michael Mosiman (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) took off with the early lead and seemed iii My Own Race: 17 JOEY SAVATGY 4TH 250MX (8-3) Joey Savatgy started up front in the first moto, only to hit a gnarly soft spot at the bot- tom of Gravity Cavity and highside big-time off the track. He recovered pretty quickly and got up to eighth at the finish, then recovered for a solid third in moto two. "It felt like my day during practice and I wasn't even that worried about the mud when we lined up, but it got me on the first lap," said Savatgy. "I hurried to get back on the track before a lot of the field came by and I think that helped me because passing was difficult. So we did what we could and I rode much better in the second moto. I know we were on track for the win before the rain, which is a bummer, but it's good to know the speed is there and we can bring that to Budds Creek." He now sits just three points behind teammate Austin Forkner in the championship chase after For- kner had an off day in the mud. 34 WESTIN PEICK 8TH 450MX (9-8) "Unadilla reminded me of the second moto at Unadilla last year, where we got a ton of rain and it was very challenging," said Weston Peick (Autotrader/Yoshimura Factory Suzuki). "I tried my best and got out of there pretty happy, considering that I don't have a lot of experience in those types of conditions. I'm sixth in the points standings, and I like Budds Creek, so I'm excited to do the press day and get more track time in." 94 KEN ROCZEN 7TH 450MX (7-7) It was sevens across the board for Honda HRC's Ken Roczen. "I haven't raced a mud race in a long time, so the plan was to just go out there and have some fun," Roczen said. "It was definitely on the more challenging side when it comes to conditions. In the first moto, I had to come in for new goggles and then I went down twice and could only get up to seventh. The first few turns of the second moto were pretty crazy. I didn't even make it to the finish line [to end lap one], and there was a dirt clod on my goggles. I tried to pull a Roll-Off but it broke, so I had to come in again and get another set of goggles. From there I just tried to make my way up the field. It took a long time until I had a clear track, and once I did I dropped my lap time and could kind of get into a flow. I feel like if I would've had better starts today and been up front, the day could've been a lot better. As it is I'm really disappointed because normally mud is really good for me and I like it."
