MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 10 / AUGUST 11, 2018 UNADILLA VALLEY SPORTS CENTER / NEW BERLIN, NEW YORK P58 in sixth, and then Nicoletti had a minor crash, handing second to Tomac. Just as Tomac went by Musquin for the lead, Musquin pitted for fresh goggles himself, and that was it. Tomac took the moto win by more than 25 seconds over Musquin, with Nicoletti nearly another full minute be- hind him in third. Then came Bloss, Baggett, five-time GNCC champ Kailub Russell in a very respectable sixth place (in his first-ever AMA Pro Motocross race), and Honda HRC's Ken Roczen, who was the last racer on the lead lap. With the first gate pick for moto two, Tomac picked the far inside gate, and it paid off, keeping him out of the carnage, as Musquin got the holeshot. Tomac came around in second, but it was Nicoletti who sneaked by both of them to take the lead in the first couple turns. He stayed there for a handful laps until Musquin surprised him with an inside move in a turn and took the lead, and Tomac soon followed the Frenchman by, but Tomac had nothing for Musquin in the second moto. Musquin took the win by almost 35 seconds over NO-GO FOR LOPES It was a tough day for rookie Enzo Lopes (Autotrader/Yoshimura Fac- tory Suzuki), and it ended up with him not even starting the second 250MX moto. "It was gnarly," he said. "In the first practice, I didn't feel the best. We headed out for qualifying and I felt good. It kept raining harder and harder. As soon as we got on the gate for the first moto it was a complete mudfest. I had a good start, but before the Skyshot I ended up crashing. My helmet was so heavy that I could barely see and breathe! Between the motos we had an issue with the bike, and I couldn't race the second moto. That's how it goes sometimes." Briefly... New York's Phil Nicoletti enjoyed the muddy conditions and finished out the day on the 450MX podium. PHOTOGRAPHY BY SIMON CUDBY/HUSQVARNA IMAGES
