AMERICAN FLAT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 12 / AUGUST 5, 2018
BUFFALO CHIP / STURGIS, SOUTH DAKOTA
P80
it was former motocrosser Ryan
Sipes (Rockstar Energy/Leatt,
Husqvarna FC450) in control,
and he led every lap.
Sipes pulled clear of the may-
hem behind him, but fast quali-
fier Jacob Lehmann (Vince &
Denise Holt/Ride Motorsports,
Honda CRF450R) was able to
tag along, rarely more than half a
second behind. Cole Frederick-
son (Vince & Denise Holt/Ride
Motorsports, Honda CRF450R)
held third a short distance back.
Defending AFT Singles Cham-
pion Kolby Carlile (Estenson
Racing/McCandless Trucking
Center, Yamaha YZ450F), Jesse
Vance & Hines, Harley-Davidson
XG750R), Chad Cose (Indian
Motorcycle of Oklahoma City/
Englehart Research & Technolo-
gies, Indian Scout FTR750) and
Kenny Coolbeth were also close
behind. Jarod Vanderkooi was
able to get back going again af-
ter his crash and worked his way
back up to 10th a little over five
seconds back of Coolbeth.
AFT SINGLES
In their semi races the highly
competitive AFT Singles class
saw many close races and
crashes, but when the 15-lap
main charged into the first turn

his first podium on the Harley-
Davidson XG750R, and the
all-around performance of the
XG750R's gave hope that the
much-anticipated Harley-Indian
war may be heating up.
More than 12 seconds back of
the top three, there was a great
race for fourth going on. Gillim
was doggedly holding Bronson
Bauman (Indian Motorcycle/
Howerton Motorsports, Indian
Scout FTR750) and Wiles, who
had remounted from his earlier
spill. In the end they would finish
in that order.
Mikey Rush (Harley-Davidson/
