able to do. He messed up out of the
right and I got a run. I thought it was
going to be a little bit tricky pass. It
was one of those deals that I poked
my nose in there and said 'here I
come.' I think he saw the wheel
and didn't fight it. I didn't want to
do it that early and give him time to
retaliate."
Mees however was unable to
retaliate. "Jake was just faster
tonight. I was just holding him up,"
said Mees.
As Johnson pulled away from
Mees, Halbert closed on Mees.
Johnson's lead grew to over two
seconds, as the factory Indian rider
and the factory Harley-Davidson
rider battled it out.
"When the halfway flags came

I'm really looking forward to that."
TURNING THE
SHIP AROUND
Despite suffering another mid-
week practice spill, Jake John-
son's year is looking up. "Hope-
fully, we've finally turned this ship
around. It's been a pretty rough
year," said Johnson. "I'm going
to be positive, but the X Games
and this race are kind of a one-off
thing. Tuesday will tell the story
if we've turned this thing around
or not. It's been a big confidence
booster. I think that's a little bit
of what I've been lacking lately.
Coming off the X Games and
being fast all day and coming out
third was a positive. Tonight, we
were a few tenths off here and
there, but we were right in the
hunt all day."
NO WINS BUT
STILL WINNERS
Neither of the points leaders, AFT
Singles or Twins, won their mains,
but both increased their points
leads. With Jared Mees' second-
place finish he ups his Twins
lead to 85 over Henry Wiles. Dan
Bromley finished fourth and leads
Ryan Wells by 52.
