HORIZON AWARD WINNER

he 37th Annual Rocky Moun-
tain ATV-MC AMA Amateur
National Motocross Champion-
ships wrapped up on Saturday at
Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane
Mills, Tennessee, and after five
full days of racing, 37 different
AMA Amateur National Champi-
ons were crowned. The classes
ranged from 51cc (4-6) kids to
Masters +50 veterans, and all
of them raced three long motos
on the dynamic, mile-long ranch
track, which only allows motor-
cycles this one week out of the
year.
The winner of the AMA's
Nicky Hayden Horizons Award
as the top graduate from 2018
was TLD/KTM prospect Derek
Drake. He won three of his six
motos in the talent-packed 250
A and Open Pro Sport classes,
finished second in the other

Derek Drake was the top rider
coming out of this year's Loretta
Lynn AMA Amateur National MX
Championship in Tennessee and
was recipient of the AMA Nicky
Hayden Horizons Award.
