LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS
ROUND 9 / JUNE 28, 2018
WASHOUGAL MX PARK / WASHOUGAL, WASHINGTON

Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki) came to Washougal
riding a wave of confidence after his amazing performance a
week earlier in Millville, Minnesota. He set fast qualifying time at
Washougal and then calmly worked his way by the AutoTrader/
Yoshimura Suzuki duo of local boy Justin Hill and holeshot artist
Justin Bogle to take the moto-one lead and simply walk away
with the win.
Tomac won by over 11 seconds over Marvin Musquin (Red
Bull KTM) and Ken Roczen (Honda HRC) after working his way
forward from a mediocre start.
But it was the second moto that really illustrated what Tomac
can do on a motorcycle. Bogle got the holeshot again—his sixth
in eight motos since he returned to racing—but Roczen took
the early lead and began stretching it out immediately, while
It was a frustrating day
for Marvin Musquin who
saw Tomac stretch out
his championship lead
over him by another
eight points.
AMART
Rumor has it that Alex Martin might be
signing with the AutoTrader/Yoshimura
Suzuki team to compete in the 250MX
class in 2019. Martin should make the
team competitive indoors and out in
the 250cc class, and since the 2019
RM-Z250 is all-new, Martin's experi-
ence will be invaluable to the team as it
works through setups in the off-season
as well.
