Spring Creek, going 1-1 for the
overall.
Joey Savatgy (Monster En-
ergy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki) got
the holeshot to start the opening
moto, but Savatgy handed the
lead to Jordon Smith (TLD/Red
Bull KTM) about halfway through
lap one when Savatgy washed
the front end out in freshly wa-
tered dirt at the bottom of one of
Spring Creek's massive hills.
Smith led Plessinger's team-
mate Justin Cooper, Savatgy's
teammate Austin Forkner, Pless-
inger, and Chase Sexton (Geico
Honda), while erstwhile runner-
up in the championship chase
Alex Martin (who literally grew up
riding at the Spring Creek facil-
ity) rounded the first lap at the
tail end of the top 10.
Plessinger went to work right
away, and once he found his
way by Forkner, he used late
braking at the bottom of the
same hill on consecutive laps to
dispatch of both Cooper for sec-
ond and then Smith for the lead.
Plessinger took the moto win
