CN III VOICES W H A T Y O U A R E S A Y I N G "99% of us (riders) wouldn't even try to hit the apex at that speed, when the other side of the road is a 7000-foot drop!" Where's The Crowd? Regarding the Captured photo showing empty stands at Mi- sano WorldSBK; it couldn't be that the World Cup of Futbol kept the Italians home in front of the TV to cheer on their team because they weren't even invited to Russia! I'm not a soccer fan but know enough that Italy joined the USA as one of the surprise non-qualifying teams. Laguna Seca WSBK seemed to be well attended a few weeks before. But what's up with the 2019 MXGP schedule? No USA round again? Talk about no love! I'm sure glad I bought my tickets for the MXoN at RedBud this October so I'll be able to see the Euros. Can't wait for the end of summer to see who is on Team USA! Such sad news about Gavin Trippe and William Dunlop passing in a matter of days of each other. Life is certainly fickle so ride and enjoy it while you can. Paul Golde Travis Pastrana Huge praise and respect to the athletic skills and showmanship of Travis Pastrana. He did a fine job of recreating Evel Knievel's feats from history past with much better results. However, here's a great big WTF to the producers of that Evel show. Why did they make us sit through a little over three hours of fluff just to show 30 seconds of actual jumping? Thank God the DVR has been invented so I didn't waste my valuable time and scrolled through to the actual good stuff and spent some time with my son and dog for a nice walk in the forest instead. Turbo Tom The show, kind of boring, so I recorded it and fast-forwarded to the jumps later. Thirty min- utes would have been enough. Nice to see a tribute to Evel, though, well-deserved and a long time coming. Travis is so used to big air that this looked like child's play for him. I'm sure the planning and practices made it routine, but you still have to go do it to make it count. Jerome Britting Travis, is the Snake River Can- yon your encore? Gary Ritts Watching the Weather Chan- nel would have been more exciting. Jerry Baljeu Rennie And Pikes Peak Come on Rennie—62/100s of second? It may not be "per- fect" (perfect is a win) but take some credit, 99% of us (riders) wouldn't even try to hit the apex at that speed, when the other side of the road is a 7000-foot drop! A well-deserved pat on the back is in order, and maybe a different tire choice next year will make it perfect! Congratula- tions on a superb effort, and for the humility to acknowledge and thank all of those who pitched in to make it possible! Richard T. Haight I loved following this story. Thanks for racing it and cover- ing it so well. Lance Gorton Letters to the editor can be sent to voices@cyclenews.com. Published letters do not necessarily reflect the position of Cycle News.
