NOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL/AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 7 / JUNE 7, 2018 BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN / REDBUD P64 by 15 seconds with only a few laps left to run) and ended terribly (scoring a moto-one DNF and losing the points lead to Musquin), Musquin's day started terribly and ended up amazing. The Red Bull KTM racer came through turn one in sec- ond place, behind fast qualifier Blake Baggett, but fell in the second turn and remounted nearly last. Justin Barcia (Mon- ster Energy Yamaha) fell in the second turn, too, in a separate incident, and Baggett fell while leading late on the opening lap and restarted nearly last after going through the mechanics' area to straighten his front end. Over the first four laps, Tomac stretched out a lead, while Ken Roczen (Honda HRC) moved into second, and is, once again, wide open. It's now the 250MX title chase that's turning into a run- away at the moment, as Aaron Plessinger (Monster Energy/ Yamalube/Star Racing Yama- ha) extended his points lead by 12 on the day over Alex Martin (TLD/Red Bull KTM). Pless- inger's 1-1 score moved him to a 35-point lead over second- placed Martin, who went 4-3 for second overall on the day. There are five rounds left, and they pick up at Spring Creek Raceway in Millville, Min- nesota, after a weekend off. 450MX Musquin, for his part, had the opposite kind of day from championship rival Tomac. While Tomac's day started well (with him leading the first moto Shane McElrath, Jordon Smith and Colt Nichols, and Marchbanks scored a DNF. He didn't suffer any major injuries, though, and should be back for Millville. CANTRELL CRASHES OUT Sean Cantrell (TLD/Red Bull KTM) qualified an impressive seventh at RedBud and was looking forward to the motos. In the first moto, he was having a great run and had moved up to eighth early in the moto—which would've been his best finish of the year, had he stayed there—when he went down big-time in the sand whoops and exited the moto, and the day. He should be back by Millville. WE WANT IN! For racers who want to be a part of the RedBud Motocross of Nations coming up this October 6-7, the RedBud National was a bit of a tryout event. At least that's how the racers looked at it. Justin Barcia wants in and said this after passing Ken Roczen for second late in the second 450cc moto: "I just wanted it really bad and wanted to prove that I should be on the Motocross of Nations team this year. This is the place where we're going to race, so have to show my A- game for sure." Marvin Musquin, who hasn't been on Team France in quite a while, seems to want in, too. "I hope I get picked for Motocross of Nations," Musquin said, "but I'm focused on outdoors right now." Dylan Ferrandis echoed Musquin's sentiment. "It's a good moment to be on the box here at RedBud and to show to the people in Europe that I'm ready for the Nations," Ferrandis said. "We're going to have a good battle in October at this track!" Briefly... It was another bad day for Eli Tomac.
