MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 6 / JUNE 30, 2018 THE WICK 338 / SOUTHWICK, MASSACHUSETTS P66 those racers. Tomac might have lost his bid for the perfect sea- son (for overall wins) but he left Southwick losing no points to his closest rival, Musquin. As the series reaches the halfway point, Tomac still maintains a comfort- able 32-point lead over Musquin. for two crashes. Just got to be a little bit better next time." Musquin took the moto win, and overall, ahead of Tomac, Barcia, Baggett, Roczen and Bloss again. The finishing order of the top seven in moto two also reflected the overall finishes of And even kind of caused another mistake in my tip-over in the sec- ond crash. So bummer that way, but it's racing. Maybe I should have slowed down a little bit, but I feel like I was in control, but the sand just got me. At least we sal- vaged a second. It's a good day, Justin Barcia grabbed third overall but needs a tick more speed to fight Musquin and Tomac for wins. iii My Own Race: 35 AUSTIN FORKNER 7TH 250 (1-20) Austin Forkner talked about his crash after tangling with Alex Martin. "I was taking that inside line like I had the whole moto," Forkner said. "I was already committed to that line and at the last minute I saw Alex [Martin] there. [We] hit and I kind of swapped and landed into a braking bump, on my back, which is what knocked the wind out of me. I'm bummed, but I'm happy with the way I'm riding right now. To put in all the work I put in today, to suffer the motos and the heat that I did…it just sucks that I didn't even finish on the podium. But, oh well." 26 ALEX MARTIN 2ND 250MX (2-4) Alex Martin talked about the incident with Austin Forkner, "Man, I feel so bad," Martin said. "I thought I had the inside and he didn't let off. It definitely wasn't on purpose. I think I had my heart rate higher than it's ever been in that moto and who knows how good our judgment is when we're at that high heart rate. I knew I had the overall if I just would have passed him and it was kind of like going for broke. Last weekend, I kind of had some bad luck and I was like, 'Man, I don't want to go home on Sunday feeling like I did at Muddy Creek.' So all in all I felt great today. So close yet again, but I think we made up points on Aaron [Plessinger] today, so I'm happy."
