KTM'S 390 ADVENTURE SPIED
T
he long-awaited KTM 390
Adventure has been spotted
testing in Europe last week. The
machine is expected to be un-
veiled at the 2018 EICMA Show
in Milan, and KTM has done a
good job of keeping this bike
under wraps until now.
The 390 Adventure uses the
same 373cc single-cylinder
motor that powers the 290 Duke
and RC390 sport bike, with the
majority of the modifications
revolving around the chassis to
make this a do-it-all adventure
steed.
We expect the main chassis to
remain unchanged from the 390
Duke, but the Adventure sports
a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear
wheel, longer travel WP suspen-
sion, enhanced bodywork more
suited for off-road use and a
larger radiator shroud.
Interestingly, there's no en-
gine skid plate, with the single
exhaust header sitting in a fairly
precarious spot for hitting the
trails.
As for the front of the Adven-
ture, the lighting appears to
take close inspiration from the
upcoming 790 Duke and Adven-
ture R, with braking handled by
a single rotor and caliper, front
and rear.
At the rear of the Adventure,
KTM has fitted more rugged
bodywork that will allow the rider
to strap or fit side bags, as well
as provide more room for a pas-
senger than found on the RC or
Duke 390. CN
