HERFOSS PREVAILS IN DARWIN
ASBK ROUND
F
ormer Australian Superbike
Champion Troy Herfoss
(Penrite Honda Racing, Honda
CBR1000SP) has proven to be
the man to beat, once again,
taking the overall victory in round
four of the Australian Superbike
Championship (ASBK) at Hidden
Valley Raceway, Darwin, June
30 – July 1.
Herfoss took second in race
one but improved for the win in
race two after having a scintillat-
ing battle with Troy Bayliss (Des-
mosport Ducati, Ducati 1299 FE)
in both races.
Herfoss pushed through the
extremely hot conditions and
extended his championship lead,
saying after race two's win, "That
was epic, racing with Bayliss is
something different, it was such
a good battle, but we had similar
pace all weekend just in different
sectors of the track," said Her-
foss. "A big congrats to my team
and our sponsors, I couldn't
have done this without them."
Unfortunately for three-time
WorldSBK Champion Bayliss,
after breaking through for his first
ASBK victory (his first national
win since 1997), race two was
going to plan until lap number 16
when he ran wide and dropped
to third position. The problems
continued for Bayliss, as he
slipped back to seventh, but his
pole position and race-one win
was enough to grab him second
overall for the round.
Bryan Staring (BCperformance
Kawasaki ZX-10R) enjoyed a
consistent weekend taking third
overall with a third in race one
and a second in race two, his
best performance since taking
the overall at round one. CN
