P116 CN III PRODUCT REVIEW PRO MOTO BILLET EVO AIR FOOTPEGS FOR THE HONDA AFRICA TWIN T he Honda Africa Twin has been widely liked by most people that have ridden it but the biggest gripe is the tiny footpegs that come standard. They look like Honda had a lot of pegs left over from the CRF50 and put them on the AT. Most adventure bikes can benefit from wider aftermarket pegs but for the Honda they are a must. There are several companies making alternatives and we chose the Fastway Performance Evolution Air option. We chose these because of the abundant adjustments available. LIST PRICE: $180.95 WEBSITE: www.fastwayperformance.com STANDOUT FEATURE Wider both in width and length with adjustable cleats and camber RIDER ANALYSIS The Fastway Evolution Air footpegs feature a patented height, traction and camber (tilt) adjustability. For the Africa Twin, height adjustment is not an option but they do include two bags of F3 threaded cleats that are different lengths. This allows you to customize your setup. All flat (short or tall), taller center or taller back. We chose the shorter cleats in all but the outermost row to provide a little extra traction on the end to keep from slipping off. The Fastway pegs also include an adjustable camber or tilt and we chose to run them pretty much flat. They mount up perfectly and includ new pins and cotter keys. The Fastway Evolution Air pegs are 2.25 inches wide versus 1.5 inches stock. And the length is 3.5 inches versus 2.5 inches stock. So there is a lot more surface area to plant your feet. A unique feature of the Fastway pegs is that they are machined out of 2024 billet aluminum. They have been designed and tested to withstand over 10 ton of down force so you don't need to worry about them not being durable. And the anodized finish looks awesome. On the Africa Twin, they deliver exactly what we were looking for. The added area and nice cleats dramatically improve the stability of your feet when riding and allow you to better weight the pegs and feel confident that your feet are not going to slip off. For road riding, the added length allows you to move your feet around a little as well, which is great for long days and especially for long sections of highway. CN
