TAYLOR ROBERT CHECKS IN FROM WEC
T
he GP of Agadir in
Morocco marked
American off-road rider
Taylor Robert's first race
in the FIM World Enduro
Championship with the
Red Bull KTM Factory
Racing team. Robert
checked in and chatted
about his new team, the
new racing format and
what his expectations are
for the 2016 season.
Everything this
weekend was new to
you—the race team,
race format, the coun-
try. Can you give us an
overview of your first
World Enduro experi-
ence in Morocco?
It was kind of a crazy experi-
ence here in Morocco. Even
though I've never raced a World
Enduro, I have raced five ISDEs
and I've seen a fair amount of
special tests. These were by
far the most dangerous special
tests I've ever seen. So in last
two days I was thinking, 'If I get
hurt here, this is not going to be
good.' I'm happy to get through
the first round safe and healthy.
There are some guys that got
pretty beat up the last couple
days.
How do you rate your per-
formance at your first World
Enduro?
I got fourth the first day and
sixth today (Sunday). I just fell
too many times today. It's kind
of a bummer because I missed
out on third [in E2] by something
like two tenths of a second on
Saturday and then I missed out
on fifth by one one-hundredth
of a second today. It's not like
SuperEnduro; you can't just put
that last-lap block-pass on and
hope it's good enough to get in
front. You have to go out and do
your best every test and hope
its good enough. As far as this
being my first event, I'm pretty
happy with it. I just want to keep
improving from here.
How has it been being a
part of Red Bull KTM Factory
Racing team?
It's been awesome. They have
the best support out there for
everything. For example, yester-
day we had a change in our time
schedules and at the very next
checkpoint they had brand new
laminated time cards for us. I
saw everyone else scratching all
their old numbers out and trying
to write new numbers in. Little
stuff like that shows you have
everything you need.
How are you looking
forward to the next event in
Portugal?
I really don't know what to
expect but I've been talking to
the guys and it should be the
complete opposite of here,
especially if it rains all week like
it's supposed to. CN
He's off to a good start, but Red
Bull KTM Factory racer Taylor
Robert is looking for more in the
World Enduro Championship.
