hampions were set to be
crowned at Miller Motor-
sports Park as the inau-
gural Superbike Shootout Series
came to a close Memorial Day
weekend.
And Monster Energy Graves
Yamaha's Cameron Beaubier
looked to be a shoo-in for the
Pro Superbike Championship
with runner-up Martin Cardenas
absent, as the Yoshimura Suzuki
team choose to sit out of the fi-
nal round in order to prepare for
the second round of the AMA Pro
Road Racing Championship next
weekend at Road America. Thus
Beaubier only needed to gain
nine points on his teammate Josh
Hayes to clinch it. But that's why
they race.
In Pro Sportbike, it was not so
clear-cut. Latus Motors Racing's
Bobby Fong and Y.E.S. Monster
Energy Graves Yamaha's Garrett
Gerloff went into the finale tied
for the lead. Both showed that
they were capable of taking the
title, so it was just a question of
what went down at the track that
Miller built near the Great Salt
Lake.

In the Pro Superbike class the
stage was set to be a battle be-
tween The Rookie and the three-
time AMA Superbike Champion.
