series.
The series will now offer a
purse payout of $16,500 per
race with a $22,500 championship fund.
"The increased prize money
support from Harley-Davidson
and Vance & Hines along with
our cost-controlled structure will
especially help the smaller teams
make the grid every weekend
and, most importantly, to be competitive out there," said Vance
& Hines Chairman Terry Vance.
"This is an exciting class, and a
lot of people in the paddock have
come to see that now."
The prize money structure
will pay $3750 to the winner of
each round and it will pay down
to 15th place ($200). Second and
third place will earn $2000 and
$1500, respectively.
Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series Champion Steve
Rapp is planning to defend his
title this year.
"I've really enjoyed racing the
XR1200 over this past season,"
Rapp said. "It's a great class with
a great group of riders, and I'm
really looking forward to doing it
again in 2014."

OPENER Jacob Aractory Husqvarna's
F
gubright kicked off the 2014
West Hare Scrambles season
with a big win at the opening
round at Arizona Cycle Park in
Buckeye, Arizona on January 4.
Argubright overcame a lackluster
start to work his way through the
pack and into second behind defending champion Gary Sutherlin.
The early laps saw Sutherlin
controlling the charge with Argubright closing the gap, but
the former's day took a turn for
the worse when his bike started
steaming. Sutherlin pushed hard
to maintain his lead, but succumbed to a mechanical issue
on lap three giving way for Argubright to take over.
Argubright never looked back
on his way to the checkered flag,
with Arizona-native Steven Godman firmly in second. Purvines
Beta's Justin Morrow worked his
way into third overall to complete
the podium ahead of Morgan
Crawford, who took a commanding win in the Vet class.
Mitch Anderson collected the
A-class win, while Cooper Abbott
– son of legendary off-road racer
Destry Abbott – celebrated the
overall win in the B class.
"I was pretty nervous for my
first race," Argubright confessed.
Husqvarna's Jacob Argubright
not only celebrated the West Hare
Scrambles win but also his 23rd
birthday.
"The first couple of laps didn't go
as I planned and then I finally
loosened up. The course was
great and I lapped all the way
up to fifth place. It was a great
start to my season and I'm looking forward to keeping the Husky
on top!"
