off the line and holding this spot all
three motos, he came in for the overall
win. Local Dan Driskill (CZ) who has
been away from the track for a while,
took second place with a third and two
seconds with 825 points. Nick Warren
(Ossa) was third.
In the third heat of this moto, the
first four riders were quick off the line,
and it was a good thing. Fifty yards
from the starting line, the remaining
riders had one glorious pile up, and it
was a miracle that no one was hurt, and
all riders were back up by the time the
leaders had made it around th e track
again.
The Open class was the race of the
day with the battle of the 400 Maicos
between Gary Schaper, Bill LeValley,
and Mike Krebs. Krebs won the first
heat, Schaper got second and Gene
Engberg got third. LeValley lost out on
this heat, !raving fallen in a mud hole,
but came in fIrst for the second heat,
with Krebs second and Enberg third.
Schaper lost a chain in this heat, placing
way down the line.
In the fInal heat, every thing broke
loose with everyone battling for first.
Krebs had his fair share of troubles,
barely missing a tree but knocking a tire
hanging from the tree loose, and rolling
it along side of him, causing another
rider to veer from his regular pathway.
LeValley grabbed ftrst and held it to the
last lap when Krebs, working his way
up, passing him in the closing seconds of
the race, taking first for the day.
LeValley scored second and Engberg
third; fourth went to Schaper.

ANOTHER NEW AFM CLASS
The L.A. Chapter of the American
Federation
of
Motorcyclists
has
initiated another class. The "Super
Street"
class
was
formed
to
accommodate the street rider whose
machine has been modified past the
production bike regulations but is
hardly competitive in the Grand Prix
classes. The only rule is that the bike
must be street legal. Period.
