VOL. 50 ISSUE 3 JANUARY 22, 2013 P51 PIONSHIP chael Leib. Sipes was taken to the hospital with an injured hand. Rounding out the top 10 was Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda's Christian Craig, Rockstar Energy Racing's Jason Anderson, who passed quite a few riders en route to a seventh, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Tyla Rattray, MyPlash/Star Racing Yamaha's Kyle Cunningham, and TLD Honda's Jessy Nelson, who rounded out the top 10. CN Both Weimer (12) and Canard (41) were also battling the flu. his best finish of the season after what has been a pretty rough start for him, suffering bike issues at A1 and a helmet-related black flag during the Phoenix round. Overall it was good; something to hang my hat on and RESULTS it's a good building block for next weekend. " Another rider who was fast all day and has been somewhat under the radar this year is class veteran Rockstar Energy Racing's Ryan Sipes. Running as high as third in timed qualifying and winning an exciting heat one against Rockstar's Jason Anderson and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Martin Davalos, Sipes looked poised to get on the podium in the main. It wouldn't be, though. After getting a so-so start in the main, Sipes couldn't avoid hitting the flipping number-176 KTM of Joey Savatgy, who went sailing over the bars in the step-on/stepoff section before a triple on the first lap. The wreck would claim many riders, including the Suzuki of Max Anstie Davalos and the Rocket Exhaust Honda of Mi- 450 1. Ryan Villopoto (Kaw) 2. Trey Canard (Hon) 3. Chad Reed (Hon) 4.
